C.K Events Fashion Show 4th may 2011

Upon arrival at G..H.Q. club last wednesday, it became immediately obvious that my garments were in very safe hands.

The crew were VERY well organised, and the girls all styled and ready to go with more than an hour to go before kick off. The hair and make up were all gorgeous, and I was very impressed by the calm and friendly backstage atmosphere. So calm, infact that I felt comfortable enough to partake of a small Gin. (for medicinal purposes only)
I was able to kick back and relax  during the first half of the show, with my gang, who had all arrived on time , and almost sober.(!)
gorgeous little patchwork embellished  tops and dresses from "Tea at Aunties " came out first, followed by a plethora of vintage dresses by "Godiva" more designers followed, all beautifully modelled.

At the interval, Gabriella and I galloped backstage to start getting my set ready. as we were showing last of the night.
All of my garments need lacing up in one way or another, so it can get a bit hairy dressing 6 girls in 4 minutes, but, thanks to the competence and helpfulness of all involved, the girls were ready, and sent out to the call of "get those prom dresses lined up NOW" from the  young lady standing at the stage door with the running order.(you dont mess with the stage manager)
we managed to jump out of the backstage just in time to see the set, and I was very happy with the result. Beautiful girls sauntered down the catwalk on the arms of some seriously good looking chaps , in their fully kilted finery.
"wow" gasped a woman standing near to me, and at that moment I remembered why I love my job.

Pink Taffeta

Today Lisa and I have spent the day rummaging around under piles of pink Taffeta.
While this is not entirely unusual for us, todays Taffeta  is destined for something different.
Tommorrow we are showing 6 looks in a charity fashion event held at G.H.Q
nightclub.
unfortunately, Lisa can't go, but I am really looking forward to it. You never know what you are walking into when you agree to do these events, some are a lot more organised than others.
I once went to one where the models had to change in a garded shed ! although, admittedly the organisers had tarted up the shed by pinning  tin foil and leopard fun fur on the walls, I can honestly say it was not one of my more glamorous moments.
Its all worth it when the girls walk out though, I am allways nervous/excited for a couple of hours before, especially because my designs are often complicated to put on, there's  the worry that someone will come on with it laced up badly, or upside down ,or something (this has actually happened).
Fortunately, some of my pals will be on hand to administer emergency gin & tonic, should it be required

Anyway... here is a lovely picture of a Taffeta Frock from the last show (which incidently was very well organised, not a shed in sight)
Its not pink, I am not going to show you THAT one untill after the event.
If you are in the area, come on down, its all for a good cause.(starts at 7pm)

My New Blog

Hello and welcome to my new blog.
Psychomoda ladies Clothing is  a made to measure dress business in Edinburgh,Scoltland. I have been open for over 20 years making dresses (and other things) for all sorts of women for all sorts of occasions.
I have an enormous catalogue of garments we have made there over the years , and I hope to share some images of them with you as we go on this journey together.
I am not sure yet, how the content of my blog is going to evolve, I hope to take some of my lead from you, if you would like to discuss anything with me about clothing. perhaps you would like to know how to measure yourself corectly, or how to put a certain look together for an occasion.
I do know what I dont want, which is yet another running commentary of what is in or not in, accompanied by sleek images of impossibly beautiful girls.Thats not to say you will never see a Psychomoda dress modelled proffessionally, but rather , its not the sole objective.
at Psychomoda we try not to dictate to you what to wear, rather to design something for you that will be both up to date, and not too far from what you would normally wear so as to be uncomfortable in it.
Our aim is to give you the confidence to shine at your social event.
With this blog I hope to be able to pass on to you some of the things I have learned over the years working with real dresses for real people.
Thanks for visiting, and come back soon !
